ADwin-Gold DSP

ADwin-Gold Digital Signal Processor

The ADwin-Gold is a real-time control and data acquisition system manufactured by Jäger in Großostheim, Germany. The system has a dedicated Analog Devices SHARC® DSP processor, local memory, and high-speed 16-bit resolution analog input and output. The time-critical processes are designed to run independently of the PC operating system.

The ADbasic programming language and powerful SHARC DSP combined with fast A/D and D/A converters provide a real-time response within one microsecond. The ADwin system performs all tasks on a priority basis regardless of the PC workload. If the PC crashes, the ADwin system will continue to run, maintaining control and collecting data. The PC can then access the process once it has been rebooted.

The ADwin system with ADbasic is the workhorse of the process. It is designed to perform process control, data acquisition, crack closure measurement and K-control. It is also used for data processing required for crack length determination and fracture toughness. All communication with the ADwin system is handled via a PC graphical interface.
