ADwin-X DSP

ADwin-X Digital Signal Processor

The ADwin-X is the most powerful and robust real-time control and data acquisition system manufactured by Jäger in Großostheim, Germany, and is the next generation system intended to serve as a major upgrade to the ADwin-Gold.

Released in 2020 and built upon the same reliable platform as the ADwin-Gold, the ADwin-X continues the legacy of powerful ADwin DSPs for use with FTA technology.

From a technical standpoint, the ADwin-X is much more capable than the Gold; its processor is over 15 times faster with almost 20 times the memory. It also has 8 analog channels that are fully time-synced within 1 µs versus only 2 synced channels on the Gold, where having all analog channels be fully synced is critical when dealing with control loops involving load and displacement to avoid hysteresis. It also has an 18-bit analog input resolution and is 64 bit floating point.

As with the previous generation, the ADwin-X system performs all tasks on a priority basis regardless of the PC workload. If the PC crashes, the ADwin-X system will continue to run, maintaining control and collecting data. All FTA FCGR and NLFT software has been fully tested and validated by LTI to be fully compatible on the ADwin-X.

The ADwin-X  is designed to perform process control, data acquisition, crack closure measurement and K-control. It is also used for data processing required for crack length determination and fracture toughness. The ADwin-X connects to the PC via a custom FTA DSP Interface, providing intuitive  I/O, increased shielding, and an available auxiliary interlock that can be enabled by the user.

To ensure long-term stability and to offset investment costs, it is planned that the ADwin-X will have a life cycle until at least 2035, if not longer.
