Fractonix Analysis Software

Fractonix is FTA’s next-generation platform for fracture mechanics testing and analysis, developed to be user-friendly and state-of-the-art. The first modules perform analysis to the current ASTM revision for E399 (linear-elastic fracture toughness) and E647 (fatigue crack growth). The initial release accepts legacy FTA output files as inputs, so you can upgrade without any hardware changes.

Most FTA analysis installations are several versions behind, which creates real risk: results certified against an obsolete revision of the standard, software that crashes or needs workarounds, and bugs that can produce invalid results. Fractonix removes that risk and commits to ongoing ASTM maintenance so you stay in sync going forward.

Key Capabilities

  • Current with the ASTM standard. Updated to E647-24 and maintained by FTA on an ongoing basis, so results never certify to an obsolete revision.
  • Crack growth visualization. See the crack profile as you work, so post-test corrections are easy to confirm and entry errors are caught before they invalidate a result.
  • Automated report generation. High-quality, ready-to-issue reports. No separate report generator to configure.
  • Integrated validity checks. Verify ASTM validity criteria before the report is generated, not after.
  • Legacy file support. Opens your existing FTA output files. Upgrade your analysis without touching your hardware.
  • Overhauled interface. A rebuilt, modern workflow that is faster and easier to use than the legacy application.
  • Built for what’s next. Modern architecture with ongoing maintenance and AI-assisted analysis on the roadmap.

On the Roadmap

Analysis launches first (E399 and E647). Fatigue crack growth testing, E1820 fracture toughness (analysis and testing), and additional ASTM methods follow on a phased release schedule.

Why FTA

FTA has specialized in fatigue crack growth and fracture toughness since 1984, with roots in the foundation of modern fracture mechanics. FTA software is the gold standard in the field, installed at over 100 sites worldwide. NASA has been FTA’s largest customer. Fractonix is built by the same team, led by Matt Adler, PhD.
